"Upping the Andes" Cyclists share their inspiration story

The four “Upping the Andes” riders being Guthrie, Toby, Archie and Tom shared their truly inspiration story recently at the Royal Geographical Society.  The idea for their bike ride started with an informal chat over the kitchen table and ended in a five month, 8,000 mile bike ride through some of the toughest terrain finishing in May 2015.  The four rode totally unsupported and braved deserts, mountains and some of the World’s busiest cities to end up at the most northerly point of South America.  The inspirational messages and the dedication to the chosen Charities the four boys were supporting kept them going through the regular nightmares of punctures, broken bikes, sickness and, at times, complete exhaustion.

Their goal was to raise £80,000 and the four boys announced on the night that this target had gone to well over £100,000.  Guthrie Fenton was raising funds for The Mark Donegan Fellowship which directly supports Oracle’s pioneering head and neck cancer programmes at The Institute of Cancer Research.  Guthrie is a close family friend of the Donegan Family.
