In some cases, we also collect information about you because other people legitimately provide that information to us. For example, sometimes when you support us, your information will be collected by an organisation working for us. In some cases, we also receive information about you third parties for example JustGiving, Eventbrite, MuchLoved, Facebook) where it is legally permissible for them to share your information with us (for example, you have consented to this).

In addition to the above, we typically collect personal information from you because we observe or infer that information about you from the way you interact with us. For example, we may use cookies and web beacons on our Website so as to automatically collect information about your visit. The information about you which we collect or obtain typically includes the following details about you: name, date of birth, age, gender, email address, postal address, telephone numbers; country of residence; employment details (for example, the organisation you work for and your job title); family circumstances (for example your marital status and dependants); financial-related information (for example information relating to your means); credit/debit card details; information on why you decided to donate to Oracle Cancer Trust; and your postings on any blogs, personal story pages, forums and any other social media applications and services we provide. This information can be collected through face-to-face communications, offline registration forms, online forms or through third party providers working on our behalf such as Eventbrite.

If you visit our Website, we also generally gather information about you based on the way in which you access and use our Website. In particular, we gather information about which pages on our Website users visit most often. We also usually track popular links on Oracle’s emails and collect information on individuals’ IP address; browser and device type; device settings; language; access times and durations; websites you visited before and after our Website; details of how you like to interact with us and similar information. We use this information to personalise the way our Website is used to improve the service we provide to you. Wherever possible we use aggregated or anonymous information which does not identify individuals.

Where you receive electronic communications from us such as emails, we also typically gather information about your use of that communication. This includes information on when you open the communication and what links you click on within it. If you unsubscribe to a communication from us, we will also adjust your preferences and retain a record of this so that we don't contact you inappropriately.

Please note that in some cases we also collect sensitive personal information, such as details relating to your health, dietary requirements, ethnicity and/or race. This is possible where you share your story with us about your experiences of cancer. The types of sensitive personal information that we collect vary depending on how you interact with us. In some rare circumstances, we might also gather other sensitive personal information about you because you volunteer such information to us.

As a fundraising organisation, we undertake in-house research and from time to time engage specialist agencies such as Prospecting for Gold to gather information about you from publicly available sources, for example, Companies House, the Electoral Register, company websites, ‘rich lists’, social networks such as Linkedin, political and property registers and news archives.

We may also carry out wealth screening to fast track the research using our trusted third party partners.  You will always have the right to opt out of this processing. We may also carry out research using publicly available information to identify individuals who may have an affinity to our cause but with whom we are not already in touch. This may include people connected to our current major supporters, trustees or other lead volunteers. We also use publicly available sources to carry out due diligence on donors in line with the charity’s Gift Acceptance Policy and to meet money laundering regulations.

This research helps us to understand more about you as an individual so we can focus conversations we have with you about fundraising and volunteering in the most effective way, and ensure that we provide you with an experience as a donor or potential donor which is appropriate for you.

This is information about you that you give us by filling in forms on our site or by corresponding with us by phone, email or otherwise. It includes information you provide when you register to use our site, subscribe to our service, make a donation on our site (or when you participate in a competition, promotion or survey). The information you give us may include your name, address, email address and phone number, financial and credit card information. We may also ask if you would like to dedicate your donation to anyone, however, this information is not mandatory to complete.

This is information we receive about you if you use any of the other websites we operate or when you place a donation via any of our donation pages on third party websites, such as JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving. In this case we will have informed you when we collected that data if we intend to share such data internally and combine it with data collected on this site. You should check other websites’ own privacy policies when you provide them with your information to understand how they process your data.

Our site is not intended for children and we do not wish to collect personal data from children. If you are underaged (and in any event, under the age of 16), please refrain from sharing any personal data with us.

We would like to send you information by post, email, telephone or text message (SMS) about charity events, news and ways by which you can support us. We will only send you information in line with the communications preferences which you have given us. We do not sell or provide your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

• any of our affiliates which includes our subsidiaries for the purposes identified above;

• we may also transfer your data in the event that we are merged or combined with another organisation or if any of our activities are transferred to another organisation.

All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site including by email.
