How we engage with Government and Policymakers

Here’s how we collaborate with Government and Policymakers:

  • Driving Policy Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns: Our campaigns, like “Sign Away Cancer,” are designed to raise public awareness around head and neck cancer prevention, including the importance of HPV vaccinations. By aligning these initiatives with policy goals, we encourage politicians to support measures that make preventative resources accessible to everyone.
  • Providing Evidence-Based Insights: Through our pioneering research, we bring essential data to the forefront, equipping policymakers with the evidence they need to make informed decisions. By sharing our findings, we’re helping to shape policies that prioritise cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and the best possible treatments.
  • Engaging with Parliament and Government Committees: We work with MPs and relevant government committees, particularly those focused on health and cancer care. By hosting meetings, consultations, and briefings, we educate political leaders about the unique challenges that head and neck cancer patients face, pushing for action on critical issues such as funding, early diagnosis, and specialist treatment.
  • Promoting Public Health and Prevention: We advocate for public health policies that reduce cancer risks, including vaccination programmes, tobacco control, and alcohol awareness. By collaborating with politicians on these issues, we strive to secure legislative support for policies that lower the incidence of head and neck cancers.
  • Amplifying the Patient Voice in Policy Discussions: Representing the voices of our patients is central to what we do. We bring real-life patient stories to meetings with political leaders, presenting a powerful case for improved support services and the resources needed for head and neck cancer care.
  • Championing Access to Specialist Care: We highlight the importance of policy backing for greater access to specialist care, innovative treatments, and comprehensive support for head and neck cancer patients. We work with policymakers to advocate for better NHS resources in these areas, helping to ensure that all patients receive the specialised care they need.

Through these actions, we’re building a strong foundation of support, pushing for policies that prioritise head and neck cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and advanced treatment. Together, we’re working to create a brighter future for all those affected by head and neck cancers.

Make Your Voice Heard:

Consider writing to your MP about the Head & Neck Cancer Crisis

Recent research has revealed an alarming crisis in head and neck cancer care across the UK. The University of Sheffield and Department of Health and Social Care report a staggering 47% increase in throat cancer cases between 2013-2020, with people in deprived areas facing almost double the risk. Even more concerning, Cancer Research UK finds that only half of head and neck cancer patients begin treatment within the NHS’s 62-day target.

Why Write to Your MP?

Your MP has the power to advocate for change. By sharing your experience, you can help them understand:
