#TeamOracle completes Chiltern Challenge
Group of Oracle Cancer Trust Fundraisers complete 20 mile Chiltern Challenge on East Monday.
The day started with dark skies and torrential rain, but that wasn’t going to stop our fantastic #TeamOracle from taking on the 20 mile waking challenge across the Chiltern hills. Lead by the Mountain Coach Charlie the team headed towards the Dunstable Downs.
Fundraiser Katrina shared: “We walked up and down many many hills, including Dunstable Downs where the rain was horizontal and Ivinghoe Beacon where I thought that I may be Mary Poppins, the wind was so strong!”
Nonetheless the team pushed on and after lunch they were rewarded with some well-deserved sunshine, before heading into Ashridge. What followed were forests, more hills, and a blustery walk along the ridge, which was a tough feat after having already completed 18 miles. The final couple of miles ended with another steep incline, but this time to everyone’s relief with the carpark at the top signalling the end of the challenge.
Fundraiser Phil said: “We are very happy to have achieved this challenge and raise money for Oracle Cancer Trust.”
#TeamOracle collectively raised an incredible £1,975 to help Oracle Cancer Trust ensure everyone has the best chance of surviving Head and Neck cancers.
