Our People
Jono Organ
Organ and I am a stage 4 larynx and thyroid cancer survivor.
I underwent many hours of surgery to remove my voice box, Thyroid and 84 lymph nodes
Followed by 6 weeks of radio and chemotherapy. It has been a difficult past two years learning to breathe, swallow and speak again. I have been very fortunate that I still have a voice when many others do not. My voice will be a beacon of hope for others. I now immerse myself in patient and public involvement and I sit on many panels including a newly elected governor to the Royal Marsden and chair of Genomic medicine PPIE Great Ormond street.
Every time I sit on a PPIE panel, I am reminded of how far I have come. Not just on my own cancer journey, but in the power of lived experience to shape a better future for others.
As someone who has walked through diagnosis, treatment and the long road to recovery, I bring truth, empathy and real world insight. My voice represents not just my own story, but the voices of so many patients who often go unheard. Whether it’s shaping research, improving patient communication, or challenging assumptions within the care system, I am proud to be part of the movement that says “patients are not just participants, we are partners”
Being an ambassador to OracleH&NUK is such an honour. it means showing up not only for myself, but for those navigating the path behind me. It means helping to light the way, through policy, through compassion, through lived understanding.
This work matters. we matter. I am proud to be part of something that helps turn experience into impact, every single day.
