Golf Club Captain Nick chooses Oracle as his Charity of the Year

Nick who took up his Captaincy at Blacknest Golf and Country Club near Alton surpassed all expectations raising over £4,500 during his year.

Oracle is a cause close to Nick’s heart following his daughter’s diagnosis of head and neck cancer at the young age of 25.  Kimberley was succesfully treated at The Royal Marsden Hospital and against all odds has also had two children.

Says Nick, “I was delighted to choose Oracle as my Captains Charity of the Year. Thankfully Kimberley has since made a full recovery, and it was thanks to Oracle’s pioneering research into head and neck cancer that gave her the best possible treatment.

“Despite having never organised any charity events, during my year as Club Captain I held a successful Captain’s golf day and organised a race night at Blacknest Golf Club. I had set myself an initial target to raise £3,000 and have been overwhelmed by the support of golfers at Blacknest, friends and family. With the help of the team at Oracle Cancer Trust, I exceeded my target and was delighted to raise over £4,500.  I am now looking forward to a well-earned rest following a busy year of fundraising and playing golf!”
