Sabina Khan and Emma Hallam, Macmillan Consultant Radiographers
Sabina Khan (University College London) and Emma Hallam (Nottingham University Hospitals) will be our clinical speakers for the webinar. Both are specialists in head and neck post-treatment and late effects, and are currently producing a detailed guidance document on late effects radiotherapy best practice for clinicians.
Emma Hallam is a Consultant Radiographer, clinical leader and educator specialising in cancer survivorship and the management of treatment-related consequences. In 2013, she established the award-winning Macmillan Nottingham Radiotherapy Late Effects Clinic, the first dedicated service of its kind in the UK, providing holistic support for patients experiencing the complex physical and psychological effects of cancer treatment. Her clinical and research interests focus on Radiation-Induced Fibrosis (RIF) and the innovative use of Photobiomodulation (PBM) therapy to improve outcomes for those living with long-term treatment consequences. Through clinical practice, research, education and national service development, Emma is passionate about breaking down barriers to care and ensuring patients are supported not only to survive cancer, but to live well beyond it.
Sabina Khan has over a decade of specialist experience in head and neck cancer, working across radiotherapy, proton beam therapy, and survivorship. She leads the first UK therapeutic radiographer-led head and neck late effects service, reshaping how long-term care is delivered. She is passionate about questioning the traditional definitions of survivorship by providing more personalised and equitable care. Sabina's work highlights the disparities faced by marginalised groups, ensuring that innovation in head and neck oncology is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a commitment to meaningful change.
