Hazel’s squamous cell carcinoma
Hazel’s journey with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of head and neck cancer, began with a seemingly minor neck discomfort during her retirement in Spain. She led an active and healthy lifestyle, was an avid cyclist and hiker and hadn’t consumed alcohol or cigarettes in over a decade. Despite this, she discovered a small lump above her collarbone, which raised concerns. However, she remained energetic and symptom-free, continuing her daily activities. Little did she know that her life was about to take a dramatic turn…
