World Radiotherapy Awareness Day 14th November
Ground-breaking launch of WRAD
Oracle Head & Neck Cancer UK was proud to join the ground-breaking launch of World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (#WRAD2025), where 250+ global organisations united for a crucial cause.
As an organisation focused on head and neck cancers – which require the most complex radiotherapy treatments of any cancer type – the critical importance of sharing best practice and advancing radiotherapy access and awareness globally is critical.
The landmark sessions held on the 14th November 2024 bring together an unprecedented coalition:
- Radiation oncology professionals worldwide
- Patient advocates and carers
- Leading medical societies including @ESTRO_RT, @RCRadiologists, @ASTRO_org, @AORTIC_AFRICA, and @RANZCRcollege
- Industry innovators and healthcare leaders
WRAD’s 4 key missions
Together, there is an opportunity to shape #WRAD2025 with four key missions:
Raising awareness about radiotherapy’s vital role in cancer treatment
Fighting for equitable global access to advanced radiotherapy
Educating healthcare communities about modern treatment approaches
Celebrating the dedicated professionals who save lives daily
Why does this matter?
For head and neck cancer patients, access to advanced radiotherapy isn’t just important – it’s life-changing. These treatments require exceptional precision, expertise, and technology. Yet globally and even within the UK, there is very unequal access to this essential care.
This inaugural event marks the beginning of a powerful global movement. Through parallel sessions spanning time zones from Australia to the Americas and the in person event in London, we are working together to try and achieve a world where no cancer patient is denied the timely treatment they need.
Join us in this historic initiative as we work to transform the landscape of cancer care worldwide. Call outs to: Mehmet Sen, (LEEDS TEACHING HOSPITALS NHS TRUST), Katie Wakeham, (IMPERIAL COLLEGE HEALTHCARE NHS TRUST) and Tom Roques, Royal College of Radiologists
