National cancer plan

A Milestone for Cancer Care in England!

In a significant step forward on the 31st October, the Government has committed to a stand-alone cancer strategy for England. This follows a Westminster Hall Debate led by MP Clive Jones on the importance of a dedicated national cancer plan.

Minister Stephen Kinnock highlighted: “To build an NHS fit for the future, we first need to listen… there needs to be a national cancer plan… However, we are clear that we must develop and publish the 10-year health plan in spring 2025 before we can publish a stand-alone cancer strategy.”

Critical moment for cancer care

This commitment marks a critical moment for cancer care. It’s a complex path, and there are significant challenges ahead.

Still, as Tamara Kahn, our CEO, commented: “The commitment to a stand-alone cancer strategy represents a powerful step forward, not just for head and neck cancer patients but for everyone in the cancer community. While there’s work to be done to ensure this strategy is comprehensive and fully funded, this milestone is a moment of real progress.”

Together, we’ll keep pushing for a transformative plan that improves outcomes for patients and families across England.
