Tubby FC hold charity match in memory of George Johnston
On the 19th May Tubby FC took on Whittington Cat FC at St Benedicts RUFC in Whitehaven in support of Oracle Cancer Trust and in memory of George Johnston and raised fantastic £1,210 for the Head and Neck Cancer Community.
Tubby FC describe themselves as “larger than life gentleman playing the game they love” and regularly organise and participate in charity football matches. However, this game was a special and very personal one for organiser Liam McGregor: “Tubby FC decided to raise money for Oracle in support of something close to me and my family. The game was dedicated to my father-in-law, George Johnston.”
The hard fought game of football can be relieved on the official YouTube channel of Tubby FC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?fbclid=IwAR0jzmER1iBhdlfUhePbehYTjq1hfcq4MUsU-yC9bIqq4sWjovEeVbY4Vp4&v=Hb86SzcxLYQ&feature=youtu.be The final score didn’t go into Tubby FC’s favour with Whittingham FC taking the win 1-4.
However, Liam reflected: “A good game of football was followed by presenting trophies and man of the match awards. The raffle was completed with 8 prizes being won including a bungee jump. The night was finished off with great entertainment.”
