Oral Hygiene packaging to highlight mouth cancer prevention
The new look mouth wash and toothpaste products encourage shoppers to be body aware and contact their GP or dental practice with any potential cancer symptoms. If something in your body doesn’t feel right, and you’re worried it could be cancer, contact your GP practice.
The new NHS partnership was launched on World Head and Neck Cancer Day (27th July 2024) and comes as the health service continues to urge young people to consent to having the HPV vaccine, which can help reduce the risk of cancers caused by HPV including mouth cancer. Oracle’s own sign away cancer plays to this agenda.
The vaccine is offered on the NHS to all children aged 12 to 13 (school year 8) and is also available for free on the NHS for all girls and women under 25 and boys born after 1 September 2006.
One of a number of causes
Oral hygiene is one of the key risk factors associated with head and neck cancers. Poor oral hygiene has been associated with various health risks, including Gum disease (such as gingivitis and periodontitis). Inflammatory molecules from gum disease can enter the bloodstream and contribute to chronic inflammation associated with various health conditions, including head and neck cancers.
Oracle HNCUK has lots of great resources on how to check for mouth, throat, tonsil and other head and neck cancers at home looking for signs and symptoms.
